National Parks

All national parks are typically $35 per car entry. If you plan on visiting multiple parks in a calendar year, then I highly recommend getting the Annual Pass for $80. This pass covers you and three others with you! You can find that here online or purchase at any of the National Park or Monuments in person.

The Maroon Bells – about a 10 mile drive outside of Aspen is a famous landscape called “The Maroon Bells” consisting of two peaks in the Elk Mountains; Maroon Peak and North Maroon Peak. Normally in the summer months you will have to take the RFTA bus to the Bells but before 8am you can drive in but will have to pay, unless you have a national park pass, because this wilderness is part of a National Forest area. This area is known for its picturesque landscape during all months especially with the fall and all the Aspen’s changing to yellow and orange, or during the winter when you can ice-skate on the lake. Definitely worth going to see!!

Independence Pass – is the highest pass you can drive on at elevation 12,095ft on the Continential Divide in the Sawatch Range of the Rocky Mountains. Some of the parts of the road are a little sketchy, but many cool hikes, fishing spots, some ice caves, and backcountry skiing can be found on the pass. Going to the Grottos, fishing at Lost Man Lake, Twin Lakes Reservoir, and Grizzly Reservoir are some of my favorite places. You can also find people climbing many routes on the pass getting spectacular views. My favorite place where you can just relax, cliff jump and hang with friends is Devils Punchbowl.
